The Hospitality Action quiz is one of our favourite industry events – delicious food, great company and a dose of healthy competition – what’s not to love?
This year’s quiz was billed ‘The Big Fat Birthday Quiz’, celebrating 180 grand years of Hospitality Action helping our great industry in times of need and dark days.
It didn’t disappoint. Six rounds, 60 questions and a reputation to uphold, we were partnered with SK Foods – producer of ethnic snacks and ready-meals – who were a great bunch and as up for the challenge as we were, the perfect match.
After a delicious starter, we switched our brains into top gear as we started the quiz…nice and easy to start, everybody’s strong point ‘Food & Drink’ – a successful round with almost 100% record. Break after round two to enjoy a delicious meal from the talented brigade at the Westminster Park Plaza hotel – the standard of food never fails to amaze me at functions with 200+ guests.
There were of course more questions, conversation, dessert, coffee, petit fours and high fives, as we finished the quiz in 20th place (out of 42 teams), or in the top half of the room as we prefer to say!
An inspiring £64k was raised throughout the evening and a room full of happy, smiling faces left their tables at the end of an excellent night. A birthday party wouldn’t be a birthday party without a party bag to take home, and we were laden with a huge one, complete with the latest foodservice products, tea towel and mug amongst other treats.
